Satoru trembled then paused “…three years” He said then slowly looked down at Derek “It’s been three years…for me”
The words did not register right away in Derek’s brain. He blinked. How could someone go three years. He titled his head. “Damn, baby….that’s a lot of time to make up for.” he said with a twinkle in his eye. He kissed Satoru slowly. “May take a little longer than a few days.” he teased.
Satoru smiled into the kiss “I know you probably think I’m crazy but I wasn’t kidding when I said I disappeared.” He laughed a little and kissed him again. “Just…maybe go slow the first time?”
Satoru shivered and tilted his head a little “S-sure, I’d like that” He said, wrapping his arms around his neck.
“Good.” Derek purred. “I may not let you out of my bed. It’s been far too long for me.” Derek nuzzled Satoru’s neck and wrapped his arms around his waist.
Satoru trembled then paused “…three years” He said then slowly looked down at Derek “It’s been three years…for me”
Satoru smiled and kissed him back “I love you too Derek. Thank you. I think I’m just going to take a few days and do nothing. Maybe hang out with you guys? Then I’ll start looking for a job and maybe a school…I think that’s my plan…”
A slow small, stupid grin formed on Derek’s face. “Oh, Mr. Kogo, I think I may be able to convince you to do more than nothing.” Derek placed light kisses all along Satoru’s neck. “But a family staycation sounds perfect. Would you consider staying with me for a few days?” He asked between kisses.
Satoru shivered and tilted his head a little “S-sure, I’d like that” He said, wrapping his arms around his neck.
Satoru smiled sadly and listened as the phone rang. After three rings his adviser picked up the phone “Mary Fredricks” Satoru took a deep breath then spoke “H-hi Mrs. Fredricks…it’s Satoru Kogo. I’m calling to withdraw” His adviser sounded shocked and she asked why. They talked for a few minutes and she said she understood and would take care of everything. She wished him the best then they hung up. Satoru sat back on the couch, taking deep breaths.
Derek kept rubbing Satoru’s back through the call, and when it was done he pulled Satoru into his lap and hugged him close. “I know that hard, and I’m proud of you. I’ll never forget it Sat…” Derek kissed him very gently. “I love you…and I can honestly say I’ve never felt this loved before. I’ve never felt this happy.” Derek cupped Satoru’s cheeks. “It’s because of you Tiger. I promise that I’ll help you find a dream, here in New York. the city is full of dreams, you’ll see.”
Satoru smiled and kissed him back “I love you too Derek. Thank you. I think I’m just going to take a few days and do nothing. Maybe hang out with you guys? Then I’ll start looking for a job and maybe a school…I think that’s my plan…”
Derek nodded. “Okay baby.” Derek took the phone, and dialed the number to MIT. He put it on speaker, and offered it back to Satoru. He took Satoru’s hand in his and kissed it.

Satoru thought for a moment then shrugged. “No, I guess not. But it’s what I need. It’s what’s best. That place isn’t good for me anymore. I’ll just disappear. Who knows if I’ll even talk to anyone again. I don’t have any friends there anyway….I just…going back is not an option.”
Derek tapped his foot and took the phone. ”I’ll give you some more options. If you want, Kay and me, we’ll come back to you…to MIT. I’ll make sure you get out of your lab and breath some fresh air every weekend.” Derek paused. “But…you know..New York…it has more people…here…to support you. If you really want, and I mean want to stay here, we…we’ll find another school. We will find a way for you to follow your dream. It’s important to me because it is important to you.”
Satoru shook his head “No, no way. I’m not letting you do that. Your lives are here, I’m not uprooting them. I…I need to withdraw. It’s just hard, you know?” Satoru frowned and looked down at his lap “I’m happy here, I wasn’t happy there”
Derek gently took Satoru’s hands in his and kissed them both. ”Hey look at me. Are you sure you want to withdraw? If you have been thinking about it for a week.” Derek titled Satoru’s head up. “If you’ve been losing sleep over it maybe you shouldn’t. We can make it work, tiger. It seems like such a shame…when you are so damn close too. Is this really what you want?”
Satoru thought for a moment then shrugged. “No, I guess not. But it’s what I need. It’s what’s best. That place isn’t good for me anymore. I’ll just disappear. Who knows if I’ll even talk to anyone again. I don’t have any friends there anyway….I just…going back is not an option.”

Satoru nodded and collapsed on the couch when Kayleigh left the room. He shakily handed the phone to Derek “C-can you press call? I’ve been trying to for a week….I can’t….”
Derek slowly sat down on the couch and pulled Satoru beside him. Confusion racked his face and he looked down at Satoru. “Who are we calling babe?”
“….MIT. I’m withdrawing” He looked down and started wringing his hands. This was definitely more difficult then he thought it would be.
Satoru hugged Kayleigh back and smiled “I’m fine, I’m fine. I just need your help with something. It shouldn’t take too long, I just needed someone here with me. Would you like to color Kayleigh? I think we have some crayons somewhere…”
Derek nodded. “I would do anything for you Satoru. Let’s sit down?” Derek took some crayons out of his courier bag. “We have some with us. Make us a pretty picture, okay Kay?”
Kayleigh nodded and wiggled out of Satoru’s arms. She took the crayons and some paper from the courier bag and made her way to the dinning room table to color.
Satoru nodded and collapsed on the couch when Kayleigh left the room. He shakily handed the phone to Derek “C-can you press call? I’ve been trying to for a week….I can’t….”
Satoru smiled a little when he heard Kayleigh call his name. He stood up and walked over to the door. He looked a mess, not having slept much in the past week. He opened the door and smiled as best as he could “Hey Kay”
Kayleigh climbed into Satoru’s arms, offering him a full scale hug. Derek leaned down to kiss his bed. “Hey, babe, what’s up?” He put his hand on Satour’s head. “You look a mess. Have you eaten? Should I order us some pizza?” he asked his voice laced with concern.
Satoru hugged Kayleigh back and smiled “I’m fine, I’m fine. I just need your help with something. It shouldn’t take too long, I just needed someone here with me. Would you like to color Kayleigh? I think we have some crayons somewhere…”
